Multiply -Sewing a basic summer dress workshop

Description

In this workshop learn to sew a basic summer dress. Use the Pattern Master ruler to copy the pattern and take measurements with tailors tape to ensure it will fit. Understand gathering ratios to get the fullness into the skirt. You will be shown how to measure accurately to ensure the garment is symmetrical. You will leave this workshop with a beautifully made summer dress and the confidence to make it again.

Basic machine sewing skills are required.

This workshop comes under the Multiply programme to improve the numeracy in adults. You will be asked to fill in an enrolment form to confirm your need support with maths.

Can I join late?
No, this is a short course.

Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone who would like to improve practical skills and improve their numeracy skills.

Do I need prior knowledge or experience?
You will have sed a sewing machine before and have basic to experienced skills. The ability to sew simple seams will help you on this course.

How will I learn?
The workshop combines the formal teaching of practical skills, demonstrations and one to one sessions on projects under the guidance of the tutor.

How will my progress be assessed?
You will be assessed informally by your tutor, as part of normal classroom activities. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor.

Is there an external qualification?
No, this is an non-accredited course.

What can I do next?
You can join other Multiply workshops or progress to other courses at BAEC.

What do I need to bring?
You will be notified before the start of the session if you need to bring anything and please bring your glasses if you wear them.
