Can I join late?
Yes, with the agreement of the tutor.

Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone who has an interest in pattern cutting and clothesmaking including beginners and those with more experience.

Do I need prior knowledge or experience?
No previous pattern cutting knowledge is required but an understanding of how garments are constructed and sewing knowledge is a must. Beginners will be helped to acquire the basics of the crafts, while individual guidance will be available to those who are consolidating their skills. In order to fully benefit from this course it is advisable to practice the skills learnt between sessions.

How will I learn?
Formal teaching of practical skills. Demonstrations. One to one sessions on projects, lots of practical hands on work on your own project under the guidance of the tutor.

How will my progress be assessed?
You will be assessed informally by your tutor, as part of normal classroom activities. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor.

Is there an external qualification?
No, this is an non-accredited course.

What can I do next?
You can progress to other clothesmaking courses at BAEC.

What do I need to bring?
Graders Set Square or Pattern Master. Paper Scissors. Fabric Scissors. Tape Measure. Pens (black and red) Pencils. Pencil sharpener. Eraser. Masking Tape. Notepad. Dressmaking Pins Tutor will advise during the first session but please bring along any of the listed items that you have. If you require glasses for close work, please bring them to each session.

Are there any extra costs?
The cost of some calico throughout the course and a basic sewing kit. Tutor will advise this during the first lesson.

Is there work between sessions?
In order to fully benefit from this course it is advisable to practice the skills learnt between sessions
