Learn how to get the most out of your SLR camera and how to take control of all the functions, menus and buttons. The course will cover basic camera settings to more advanced camera techniques. You will learn how to use your camera in manual and understand how to select appropriate apertures and shutter speeds. The course will cover composition and the different genres of photography such as portraits, landscapes and still life. Learners must have their own digital SLR camera to bring to classes and to use for homework assignments. Please read the full description in 'More details' below before completing your enrolment.

A creative course teaching you how to use the digital SLR camera artistically. Learn all the main camera functions such as aperture, shutter, depth of field, lenses, exposure, ISO and composition.
Can I join late?
Yes, only up to week 2 of course and with agreement of tutor.
Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone who has an interest in learning how to use the digital SLR camera artistically. This course is suitable for beginners or those with previous experience who need to brush up on their skills.
Do I need prior knowledge or experience?
No, this is a beginners level course.
How will I learn?
This is a practical course. Tutor demonstration, one to one and group tutorial, questions and answers, discussion and observation.
How will my progress be assessed?
There will be ongoing informal assessment by the tutor throughout the course and you will receive regular feedback on your progress throughout the course.
Is there an external qualification?
No, this is an non-accredited course

What do I need to bring?
Digital SLR Camera, note book and pen.
Are there any extra costs?
You will need to provide your own camera. Tutor will advise at first session. The cost of printing photographs is not included in the course fee.
Is there work between sessions?
In order to fully benefit from this course, it is advisable to practise the skills learnt between sessions and take plenty of photographs as set for homework.
