This gentle exercise class is designed to help adults improve muscle strength, mobility, balance and overall wellbeing in a safe, supportive and accessible environment.

Using a combination of resistance bands, low-impact exercises and simple movement techniques, learners will be guided through sessions that gradually build strength, improve flexibility and support everyday functional movement. The class is suitable for those returning to exercise, as well as older adults or anyone looking for a more gentle approach to fitness.

Sessions will focus on improving confidence in movement, reducing stiffness, enhancing stability and supporting independence in daily activities. Exercises can be adapted to suit different ability levels, ensuring that all participants feel comfortable and included.

No previous experience is required, just a willingness to move at your own pace and take part in a friendly, encouraging environment.

This gentle exercise course is designed to help adults build muscle strength, increase mobility, and improve confidence in movement through a range of low-impact exercises. Using resistance bands and simple functional movements, you'll develop the strength and flexibility needed to support everyday activities and maintain independence. The course is ideal for older adults, those returning to exercise after a break, or anyone looking for a gentler approach to improving their fitness. All exercises can be adapted to suit individual abilities, allowing you to work at your own pace in a welcoming and inclusive class. No previous experience is required—just a willingness to get moving and enjoy the benefits of regular physical activity. Please note: This is a physically active course. If you have any concerns about your health or your ability to participate, we recommend consulting your GP or healthcare professional before enrolling. All learners will be asked to complete a health and safety questionnaire during their first session.

Can I join late?
Yes. Anyone joining after the first session will be given extra support. You can join this course at any time.

Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone who has an interest in improving flexibility, strength and posture. This course is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Do I need prior knowledge or experience?
No, all levels are welcome. Beginners will be given extra support and will work through simple versions of the exercises, while more advanced students will extend their skills according to level and ability.

How will I learn?
A practical course with a mixture of demonstration, individual monitoring and practical tasks.

How will my progress be assessed?
You will be assessed informally by your tutor, as part of normal classroom activities. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor.

Is there an external qualification?
No, this is an non-accredited course

What can I do next?
You may also try Pilates or Yoga classes at BAEC and elsewhere.

What do I need to bring?
Please wear loose comfortable clothing and either socks/plimsoles or be prepared to work in bare feet. You can bring a small bottle of water if you wish.

Are there any extra costs?
You may wish to purchase your own resistance bands, but the college will have some you can use.

Is there work between sessions?
It is useful to practise between sessions.
